Seatweaving & Chair Caning Forum–The Caner’s Community Hub™
Welcome all Beginners, Hobbyists, and Professionals
Founded (2004) & Moderated by Cathryn Peters
Chair Caning Forum is TEN Years Old!
When I first started the Seatweaving & Chair Caning Forum–The Caner’s Community Hub™ on March 10, 2004, who knew it would still be flourishing TEN years later with 150 members?
We’ve been socializing and helping others in the craft with answers to their questions, sharing helpful hints & tips, giving business solutions to perplexing problems, and just plain offering help and encouragement to keep this nearly “lost” art alive and flourishing to continue for generations to come!
Did you know that The SeatWeavers Guild, Inc.® (TSWG) was “born” on the Seatweaving & Chair Caning Forum? Yes, it’s true! Mindy King, chair caner from Ohio and one of the first to join the Chair Caning Forum, had the bright idea to start the first and only chair caning guild in 2007 after much discussion on the chair caning forum.
I am so proud to have created the first and only online discussion board of its kind, dedicated especially to building a community of like-minded individuals from around the country and beyond. It’s a welcoming place to discuss all aspects of seatweaving, chair caning and wicker repair and to learn from one another so these heritage crafts don’t become “lost arts.”
How has the Seatweaving & Chair Caning Forum–The Caner’s Community Hub™ assisted you over the years? Won’t you help us keep this time-honored, traditional handcraft alive and well? Please share your comments below and also through your favorite social networks!

Happy Weaving, until next time!
Hippo Birdee Two Ewe!!!
Thanks to ewe and your 20 partners for creating a lasting legacy. It’s a treasure to us newbies.
Now, I must check the Guild website for a way to order a nifty shirt with the logo. I have the bumper sticker that brings an occasional comment or question.
Thanks for the post Laurie, I’m so glad you are benefitting from the Seatweaving & Chair Caning Forum! And your work is wonderful, you are really blossoming in this traditional craft, keep up the good work. You might also consider joining The SeatWeavers’ Guild, Inc.® too, it’s a great organization to belong to.
Ohhh and many, many more Birthdays for the Forum !
I am always happy to see that someone wrote in to the forum, and need help,
or have a wonderful hint ! It is a “gift” every time.
Thank you so much Cathryn !
Thank you too Jan, where would we be without you? You’ve been giving and sharing your knowledge and insight on the seat weaving craft ever since I started the Chair Caning Forum and I thank you every day for it, old friend!
As always, Cathryn, thank you for providing such a wonderful service!
Happy Birthday!!!!
